Management Guidelines
Mycogen® brand bm3 BMR hybrids are bred for highly digestible stover and grain components; a planned fertility program that provides adequate N, P and K throughout the season is highly recommended.
Best performance when placed on soils with good water-supplying capacity, unless irrigation is an option.
Whole-plant digestibility of BMR hybrids allows for low chopping and maximized tonnage.
Avoid planting at aggressively high plant densities; moderate to moderate-high plant densities complement the performance characteristics.
Consider the use of a foliar fungicide when planted in areas where significant gray leaf spot pressure is expected.
Monitor harvest moisture closely as harvest approaches; BMR hybrids may be drier or wetter than physical appearance indicates.
When storing BMR hybrids in a pile or a bunker, recommended moisture levels for harvesting range from 66 percent to 70 percent; for bags, 66 percent to 68 percent.
Miticide application is highly recommended when planted in areas where significant spider mite occurrence is expected.
