Management Guidelines

  • High-yielding TMF silage hybrids are bred for high stover and grain components; a planned fertility program that provides adequate N, P and K throughout the season is highly recommended.
  • Semi-flex ear type supports variable planting densities; optimum performance achieved at moderate plant populations.
  • Use of a foliar fungicide is recommended when significant leaf disease pressure is expected.
  • When storing TMF hybrids in a pile or a bunker recommended moisture levels for harvesting range from 65 percent to 68 percent; for bags 62 percent to 68 percent.
  • Harder kernel texture will benefit from a kernel processor.
  • A miticide application is highly recommended when planted in areas where significant spider mite occurrence is expected.
